Python Hosting Explained
What Is Python Hosting?
Python is one of the most popular languages for web development, automation, and data work. Frameworks like Flask and FastAPI make it quick to build APIs and web apps, and Python's data and machine learning libraries let you add serious capability to your back end.
Python web apps don't run inside the web server the way PHP does. They run in an application server, such as Gunicorn for WSGI apps or Uvicorn for ASGI apps, that stays running and handles requests. Your hosting needs to let you install the right Python version, create isolated virtual environments, and keep that application server running behind a reverse proxy.
A HostPapa VPS gives you that control, plus root access for the system libraries your packages depend on.
Why Choose HostPapa

How to Deploy a Python App on a HostPapa VPS
Most Python web apps follow the same six steps to production, whether you build with Flask, FastAPI, or another framework.
Step 1: Install Python. Connect over SSH and install Python 3 and the venv module from your distribution's packages. Use a tool like pyenv if you need a specific version.
Step 2: Create a virtual environment. Clone your project, run python3 -m venv .venv, activate it, and install dependencies with pip install -r requirements.txt.
Step 3: Choose an application server. Run WSGI apps like Flask with Gunicorn, and ASGI apps like FastAPI with Uvicorn. Bind the server to a local port or Unix socket, not a public interface.
Step 4: Run it as a service. Create a systemd service so your app starts on boot and restarts automatically if it crashes.
Step 5: Put Nginx in front. Configure Nginx as a reverse proxy that forwards requests to your application server and serves static files directly.
Step 6: Add HTTPS. Point your domain's DNS at the VPS, then use Certbot to issue a free Let's Encrypt certificate for Nginx and set it to renew automatically.

Pick the Right Environment
Which Plan Fits Your Python Project?
Choose an Unmanaged VPS if you want full control over Python versions, system packages, application servers, and Nginx.
Choose a Managed VPS if you'd rather have our server administrators handle operating system patches, updates, and migration help.
Choose a dedicated server if you run heavy data processing, several production services, or workloads that need full hardware isolation.

Can I host Flask and FastAPI apps on HostPapa?
Yes, on a HostPapa VPS. Run Flask with Gunicorn or FastAPI with Uvicorn, manage the process with systemd, and put Nginx in front as a reverse proxy.
Which Python versions can I use?
Any version your app needs. With root access you can install Python 3 from your distribution's packages or use pyenv to run several versions side by side.
What's the difference between WSGI and ASGI?
WSGI is the traditional synchronous interface used by Flask and most Django apps. ASGI supports async code, WebSockets, and long-lived connections, and it's used by FastAPI and Django Channels.
Can I run background jobs and scheduled scripts?
Yes. Schedule scripts with cron or systemd timers, and run task queues like Celery with Redis or RabbitMQ as their own services.
Do I need Managed or Unmanaged VPS hosting for Python?
Unmanaged VPS plans suit developers who want full control of the server. Managed VPS plans add server administration from our team, which helps if you'd rather not handle operating system updates yourself.
Does HostPapa offer a money-back guarantee?
Yes. Every plan is backed by a 30-day money-back guarantee, so you can deploy your Python app and test performance risk-free.
