Merging and splitting table cells
When you merge two or more adjacent cells, they become one cell that spans across multiple rows or columns. You can merge cells horizontally across columns and vertically across rows. When you merge cells that contain text, all of the text is combined in the merged cell. If you no longer want the cells to be merged, you can split them into the original multiple cells.
To merge cells, select two or more adjacent cells, then go to Table > Cell > Merge cells.
The cells are merged into a single larger cell.
If you want to split the cell, select it and go to Table > Cell > Split cell.
The merged cell is split into the original number of cells.
