While a domain, or domain name, is used to create a memorable address for a website, a subdomain (for example, mysubdomain.mydomain.com) can be used to do the same for a specific section of a website.
Subdomains are not the same as addon domains or parked domains. To learn about the differences between the three types of domain, see this HostPapa knowledge base article: The difference between addon domains, parked domains and subdomains.
To learn how to create a subdomain in My cPanel and point it to a folder on your server, read this article: What is a subdomain? However, if you wish the subdomain to point to a specific IP address, follow these steps:
Log in to the HostPapa Dashboard and select My cPanel from the top navigation menu. Scroll down to Domains and click the Zone Editor link.
Click +A Record.
In the panel that appears, enter your desired subdomain in the Name text box and the IP address you wish the subdomain to point to.
Click the Add an A Record button to save your settings.
